The Quebradona project is situated in the Middle Cáuca region of Colombia, in the Department of Antioquia, 60km southwest of Medellín within the Municipality of Jericó. The project is 100% owned and managed by AngloGold Ashanti. Quebradona remains an attractive long-life, high-grade, low-cost project which has the potential to add copper production to our portfolio.

The Colombia team continues the review and gap analysis, and the incorporation of the additional information identified as part of the environmental licensing authority’s (ANLA) archiving decision in Q4 2021. Since then, the team has focused on developing a strategy to collect the hydrogeological, hydrological and geotechnical data that ANLA deemed necessary for the licence application.

An optimised feasibility study provided the technical information required to submit a new environmental impact assessment application. Given changes in the site layout, additional geotechnical investigations were conducted, and the mining method and process flow sheet developed.

The underground access tunnels, portal and processing plant have been relocated to more efficient locations. The TSF was redesigned to align with more stringent parameters (EIA requirement), and water management was reviewed to minimise intake and discharge from natural sources and maximise the recycling of treated contact water.

The La Colosa project is located approximately 150km west of Bogota, in the Tolima Department. It is a very large porphyry-style gold deposit discovered by the AngloGold Ashanti Colombia greenfield exploration group in 2006. This wholly owned project is currently under force majeure until the necessary environmental permits are issued.
